Epworth Children’s is Chapter's Community Service Project

The Epworth Children’s Home was selected as our Chapter’s 2009-2010 Community Service Project for our 2009-2010 year. We adopted the Hudson Girls Dormitory housed on the Epworth campus in Webster Groves. The Dorm currently has eight young ladies living in it and a Dorm Lead. They range in age from 13 to 17 and love to receive care packages.

Our chapter will be doing something for these ladies each month through our 2009-2010 chapter year, and we would like to have all of our members involved. We started out in October by providing Halloween Cards and treat bags filled with candy to each lady, which were delivered to them the Thursday before Halloween. For November, each girl received a gift bag filled with snacks, cookies, cakes, chips, etc. for Thanksgiving, as well as a big basket of apples, caramel, and other snacks for all to share. For Christmas, we visited the Dorm to meet the ladies and played a Christmas trivia game as well as share a little about who we are.  Each girl received a Christmas gift bag filled with feminine things such as nail polish, scented lotion, lip gloss, cosmetics, perfume, fuzzy socks, etc.  In February we visited again and helped the girls make home made Valentines, and in March we are planning line dancing.

All members are encouraged to bring items to chapter meetings to share with the girls or cash donations in order to purchase items for the girls.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed in any way to help our chapter have a successful community service project of helping ladies with a real need.
